What is AbilityOne?
The AbilityOne Program (AbilityOne) exists through the enabling legislation at 41 USC Ch. 85: COMMITTEE FOR PURCHASE FROM PEOPLE WHO ARE BLIND OR SEVERELY DISABLED. AbilityOne is one of the largest sources of employment in the United States for people who are blind or have significant disabilities. Approximately 500 nonprofit organizations (NPAs) employ these individuals and provide quality products and services to the Federal Government at a fair market price.
The Program is administered by the U.S. AbilityOne Commission (Commission), an independent Federal agency, with assistance from National Industries for the Blind (NIB), SourceAmerica®. NIB and SourceAmerica represent NPAs before the Commission as well as review solicitations made through different portals such as GSA eBuy, SAM Contract Opportunities, and Unison.
To ensure that your buy is compliant with CFR 51, FAR 8.7, CFR 52.208-9 and JWOD Act 41 USC 48, please ensure your listing on Unison includes the AbilityOne NSN and description and is limit to bidders only who are Authorized AbilityOne Distributors (only Authorized AbilityOne Distributors can sell AbilityOne products). Your Unison service team can assist with this.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help in any way we can at the contact information below. You can also reach the Commission directly at 800-999-5963 or info@abilityone.gov.
